Summer Fresh

Now that we are in the glorious summer days, I get inspired by the cool fresh colors the season brings to mind. Growing up I spent my summers at our lake house in New Hampshire. The cool dark blue water, the fresh greens of the trees and bright oranges, yellows and reds of the sails on the sailboats filled my soul. During my twenties while living in Philadelphia, I spent my summers in Avalon on the Jersey Shore. Yes the Shore! It was and is a beautiful beach filled with all the sites and sounds of most beaches in the country. The begie sand color, the crystal blue sky, the white of the waves and the seafoam green water relaxed me instantly.

Today I live in beautiful Seattle and visit Puget Sound every day for my morning meditation. Later this month I am heading to Cannon Beach Oregon which is one of my favorite places on earth! I often say that Cannon Beach is a combination of my summers spent in New Hampshire on our lake and in Avalon on the Jersey Shore. It also has a hit of the Maine coast line feel to it. Yet Cannon Beach has a magical feel for me which pulls me to visit every year.

When I am surrounded by or wear cool crisp whites, aqua, orange or blue colors, I am feel light, fresh and ready for a perfect summer day!

Morning Inspiration

A little secret of mine is that I visit a quite spot on the beach near my home as my morning ritual. Starting my day by the sea, listening to the waves, smelling the salt in the air, and seeing the beauty all around is such a lovely way for me to start my day. I spend about an hour taking in all I can and trying hard not to think about the day ahead of me. I have found that it provides me a sense of peace, calm and creativity that continues throughout my day and into the evening. Being in and around nature is such an inspiration for me and especially when I was developing my color palettes. I used many of the colors found on the beach, the sky and mountains, and the sea when creating the Fresh color palette.

This is what my eyes take in every morning. Ahh…the beauty that carries me through.

Bedroom Sanctuaries

I was inspired by these beautiful, serene bedroom images to share with you my views on the importance of creating a peaceful space in your home.

I so often find that the master bedroom is the last room in the home to be transformed. The family room or kitchen is often the focus of attention. Yet in order to give energy back to yourself or to your family, you need a place of restful retreat. A bedroom should not be cluttered with “stuff” or have energy zappers such as tv’s/dvd’s or anything else high tech in them. Your sanctuary needs to be a space for you to renew and refresh your energy.

This is the time of year we all are hibernating in our homes. Perhaps a new paint color with a new set of draperies or a new duvet cover will create that sanctuary for you. Why not transform your bedroom this month and experience your own transformation.
