Bring Your Kitchen Back to Life
This outdated kitchen was in desperate need of an update. The oak cabinets, tile countertop, tight layout and lack of an ample eating area were the elements that finally drove my client to finally remodel. The family of four wanted a comfortable, functional and elegant kitchen to eat daily meals in, as well as to entertain family and friends.

The home is located on Puget Sound so a lighter beach feel was decided on for the overall direction of the kitchen remodel. We chose The Authentic Home COLOR Paint tm in Glacier for the walls and Champagne for the ceiling along with a Linen color for the custom Alder cabinets. This established our color palette for all the other elements such as the granite countertop, backsplash, window coverings and upholstery fabric and the island cabinet color.
The kitchen underwent two new interior design changes. The first was the addition of the window seat area. The family desperately needed a place to dine comfortably and it now has become one of the focal points of the room. The kitchen was extended 4 feet onto the existing patio in order to build this important element. An enclosed window “sun room” was designed to allow ample morning sun into the entire room. The wrap around window seat, custom made Alder tabletop and custom hand forged steel base is the ideal setting for family meals.

The second structural element was the ceiling height which was raised 9 feet. New custom oak beams added to the casual, comfortable feel of the space. This important change to the ceiling height makes the entire space feel more open and much larger.
The light blue, warm sand and pale green granite countertop was selected due to the beach and flowing water feel. The shimmering iridescent glass mosaic backsplash in blue, copper and green tones and coordinating copper bowed 1”x 9” subway tiles make the room sparkle with color and elegance.

The dark stained Alder furniture island makes it one of the room’s focal points. A small prep sink, large counter area and raised counter make the island a statement piece. The microwave was placed on the lower level so that the teenage daughters could heat up things easily.
The clients are extremely happy with their new up to date kitchen and the new space has truly become the heart of their home.
