2010 Color is Turquoise

I was fortunate to attend a 2010 Color & Design Trend seminar this week.  Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone’s Color Forecaster and Color Consultant, shared with us that the 2010 Color is Turquoise.  The psychology behind selecting Turquoise as this years color was that studies showed that the word Turquoise evokes feelings of relaxation, escape, ocean and protection.

Authentic Home COLOR Paint has various tones of Turquoise for you to explore in your own room setting.  A splash of a Turquoise on a wall along with pillows or lamp is all you need to create that feeling of relaxtion and a renewed sense of joy.  And it feels like spring is just around the corner!

Feeling Organized

When I am organized it seems as if the rest of my life just falls into place. Now I know we are all very busy and for many of us keeping ourselves organized is a daily chore.  I tend to go in waves when I completely organize my home and office yet then slip back into a somewhat chaotic lifestyle of piles of papers and to do lists abound.

My colleage Laura Liest is the founder of Eliminate Chaos.  She has perfected the art of helping people organize their lives and their homes.  Her process gets the entire family involved so that new systems are in place for everyone and everything to run smoothly.  View Laura’s website at www.eliminatechaos.com for upcoming seminars and information on her new book.

With the new year just starting, wouldn’t it be nice to try to keep at least one part of lives organized so that we can fulfill more of what we want to achieve.

New Beginnings

I am thrilled that the holidays are now behind us and the New Year has arrived. There is something so fresh and new about the beginning of a year.  I am not one for New Year’s resolutions but do find it helpful to set both personal and professional goals and objectives for the months to come.

I am especially excited this year for the launch of the new Authentic Home brand and website later this month.  Last fall we decided to set our strategy to rebrand Authentic Home which includes not only a new logo, a new website but a new fabric line and two new color palettes.  So we have been busy and are ready to start a new in 2010!

Take a quick peak at our new Authentic Home and color palette logos. Stay tuned for more COLORful things to come!

Holiday Memories

I have very fond memories of the holidays growing up in Connecticut.  We always had snow and sometimes so much that we couldn’t open the front door.  We played outside all day long and then came home for soup, hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies.

We lived in a four bedroom colonial style home and every holiday my Mom would decorate the largest wreath imaginable that would be hung on the front of our home.  Spot lights highlighted her hard work making the wreath sparkle with gold and red decorations.  My dad and brothers strung lights outside and we all went carolling door to door in the neighborhood.  Yes it does sound like a Norman Rockwell story, and perhaps it was.   Each and every year we had the most beautiful home decorated for the holidays.

These times of being with my family and enjoying the holidays are very dear to me.  May you all find the time to decorate your homes this and every holiday season.  Happy Holidays to you.
